One week from tomorrow, we leave for Munich. We have an amazing group, committed, passionate, and caring. Coming from several places on different flights, we will convene in Munich and then proceed to Nuremberg where we visit Courtroom 600 and Nazi sites. I know that for me the questions about the Holocaust, the essential hows and whys, are always rumbling around in my mind. As we approach the departure date of our trip, the rumblings grow louder. I’m so thrilled that seventeen of us will have these 12 days of concentrated time to grow and learn together.

Recently I had the opportunity to travel to Germany with six other Americans to explore German-Jewish Dialogue in contemporary Germany. The trip was an amazing opportunity to consider the important and ongoing ways that Germany has dealt with its Holocaust history. My recent experiences in Germany have made me even more excited about our HMH trip, for while in Germany, I established contact with individuals who will play a very special part in our trip. I also saw the ongoing development at historic sites, including at Sachenhausen, which has been vitally enhanced with recent interpretation and facilities. I can’t wait to visit the sites on our itinerary and begin our conversations! I hope you will be there!
